High Quality Education

At 3 Steps Early Learning Centre, our childcare service and school readiness program are designed to support your children as they play, explore and learn!

3 Steps ELC is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) principles of ‘Being, Belonging and Becoming’ and the National Quality Framework (NQF), we have developed an ever-evolving environment which allows for intentional teaching and spontaneous learning.

Our Specialised Early Learning Curriculum promotes the following skills as outlined by ACECQA to support the children in our care in their readiness for school:

  • Social skills
  • Cognitive skills
  • Language skills
  • Independence and life skills
  • Physical skills

OUR LEARNING SPACES

At 3 Steps early learning, we encourage each child to play, explore and learn in our diverse indoor and outdoor environments. Focusing on play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and a structured routine, we support and supervise preschool children, nurturing literacy and numeracy skills, as well as social skills, imagination, high-level thinking, an interest in sustainability, and much more.

Explorers (0 - 2 years)

Finding care for your little one particularly in those early years is a daunting and exciting adventure. We hope to provide your child with care that is close to his/her heart and home. Our nursery room is a relaxed environment where children can play and interact with each other and their educator. We tailor our routines to suit each individual child and children will encounter familiar experiences such as meal and play times, nappy changes and sleep whilst engaging in meaningful relationships with their educators.

Our babies room is an intimate environment that is built on security and curiosity. Children are encouraged to explore and develop their understanding of the world through their 5 senses. The room is safe and supports its babies to feel confident in their identity and in achieving those very important milestones.

Investigators (2 - 3 years)

Children in this age group are meeting new challenges and learn best in a stimulating environment. Our qualified educators help facilitate learning and discovery through interest based activities which encourage investigation and exploration. Children begin to learn that they are capable of early, simple self-governance. We encourage a range of self-help skills like serving their own meals, dressing and undressing, and toileting. In addition to these physical accomplishments, toddlers are developing in other ways.

At 3 Steps early learning, we provide opportunities for our toddlers to play and share with other children developing social and emotional skills as well as supporting their cognitive and language skills by allowing them to explore, ask questions and use their imagination.

Navigators (3 - 5 years)

All children develop at different rates; however, in this age range children begin to explore the process of learning and refine their views of themselves and the world they live in.

Children are encouraged to not only explore their natural environment, but to engage with using their imagination and creativity. Through their play, our qualified educators teach the children to develop a sense of their place in the world and help them develop the confidence, problem solving and negotiation skills necessary for them to begin school.

Our navigators are introduced to the concept of school routines and concepts which helps to ease the transition to Kindergarten. 3 Steps uses the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) as a guide in developing a play-based curriculum and learning experience for the children.

School Readiness

At 3 Steps, we highly recognise the importance in giving your child the skills to be ready for Primary School. It is our priority to ensure that our pre-schoolers are equipped with the skills necessary for a smooth transition to school, but more importantly than this is that our children’s individuality is preserved and that all of our children are provided with authentic opportunities to grow and succeed.

We have developed a unique School Readiness Program that incorporates all aspects of children’s development, not only literacy and numeracy. We have created a program with activities that focus on helping the children develop:

  • Name writing
  • Letter and number recognition
  • Number counting
  • Maths games
  • Scientific investigations
  • Self-awareness and confidence
  • Gross motor development through physical exercise and coordination activities
  • Social development through peer interaction such as sharing and taking turns
  • Fine motor development such as scissor cutting and arts and craft
